here's a fact. all drivers are arrogant. ALL of them. it's part of their self-confidence / image training. you HAVE to believe that you are so much better than the others and that you'd win, or else why bother even getting on the track? granted, you may have a crappy car, but that doesn't mean you still can't give the others a really hard time winning...
they may be slightly arrogant, absolutely arrogant, just bloody well effin' arrogant, or even they're all oh-so-chummy and oh-so-polite until they get into a car, then they turn into really arrogant bastards. like Ayrton Senna, Mr. Let's Just Do One Lap In Qualifying And Then Go Home, Because I *Know* I Will Get Pole Position. and at least half a dozen bast- err, drivers in the WRC (and no, not all of them are the French :P).
(before you ask, yes, the same thing applies to the surly kitty. surly kitty on track days is very very scary, surly kitty has been told.)
some drivers actually have split personalities (Takumi isn't alone). typical guy when he's not in a car, but give him keys to the car and watch the Everyone Stay Out Of My Way, For You Are Mortal persona pop up.
and no, this observation wasn't based on Ini-D, it's based on all those years of following autosport.
