my friend put The Mummy Returns DVD on this afternoon and i watched bits and pieces of it, so i guess that movie's responsible for this... *drumroll*

trippy dream blog entry! (the llama is not alone!)

let's see... Aragorn from LotR was in the dream and it was in a LotR setting, but he was saying Ardeth Bay (from The Mummy Returns) lines for some reason. (O_o;) i've forgotten most of the dream, but here's what i could recall.

fighting orcs scene:

instead of saluting the Uruk-hai with his sword before he starts chopping left and right, he screams "Haz-al-maat!".

Boromir's... err, little trip down the river... (<.<;):

Aragorn waves his hand as he watches the boat float down the river and he says, "ma assalama ya akhi" instead of... well, you know what really happened in the movie.

i remembered these two bits the most since when i woke from the dream, i realised that i understood all the random Arabic lines Ardeth used in The Mummy (and the ones Aragorn used in my dream. eh, i'm starting to confuse myself!). that made me blink and start poking a rather cobwebby part of my brain, and wow! i still remember all those lessons from that one of semester of Arabic in uni! (O.O)

whaaaaaaat? i had to take two foreign language units in uni - i took German for the first unit and since the German II class was full, it was either Arabic or French. now i simply could not handle the pronunciation in French, so i signed up for Arabic instead.

*squirms at all the looks directed at her*

oh yeah, just in case some people are gonna ask:

haz-al-maat - to the death
ma-assalama ya akhi - farewell my brother

(i'm not sure about the proper romanisation, but yes, that's what those phrases mean.)

*toddles off to find out if she can still remember how to write in the Arabic script*
